Goodbye Love Handles
Fat that has gathered at the sides of a person’s waist is often referred to as a person’s love handles. This is some of the most difficult fat for a person to lose.
In order to lose these love handles, it is important to do different types of exercises that work that part of the body. These exercises should be repeated often.
One exercise that works this area is the twisting crunch. Lay like you are doing a normal crunch. Your knees should be bent and your hands should be behind your head.
However, with this crunch, you are going to crunch from side to side. You will crunch taking your right elbow to your left knee, then your left elbow to your right knee.
You should do multiple repetitions of this, starting with 3 sets of 15 crunches. As time goes on and you get better, increase the number of crunches you do in each rep. This exercise will work your love handles, your core muscles, and your abdomen.
These crunches can also be done by extending the legs and bringing the knee in to your elbow. You will still be twisting from one side to the other, but this works the love handles at a slightly different angle. Like the first crunch, this exercise also works your abs, but works your thighs as well. Do 3 sets of 15 crunches, increasing the number of crunches as you do more workouts.
Another good exercise for working the love handles is the trunk twist. With this exercise, you should stand with your feet shoulder width apart and your knees slightly bent. You will twist at your waist as far to the left as you can while extending your right arm.
Turn back to the other side, extending your left arm. Do 3 sets of 15. If you would like to make this more difficult, consider holding small weights in your hands or using a medicine ball while you twist. This will help to burn the fat on your waist as well as strengthen that area of the body.
Another important thing to consider while trying to get rid of love handles is your fat intake. Try eating foods that are low in fat and calories. Lowering your fat and calories will help you lose weight all over, including your love handles.
In addition to these things, regular cardiovascular workouts will help you lose weight in this area, by melting fat evenly throughout your body. Like any other area of your body, losing fat requires a lot of work. While it is very helpful to focus on specific areas, you should also try to keep your entire body in shape as that affects each area as well. Cardio workouts should be done for twenty or more minutes at least three times a week.
Losing your love handles is not an easy task and requires time and dedication. But by doing these simple exercises and living a generally healthy lifestyle, it is something that can be accomplished by anyone.
